Senior Civil Engineer

Job Description:

KEY Environmental Inc. is an established and innovative environmental consulting firm specializing in the investigation, remediation, and redevelopment of environmentally-challenged properties across the U.S. We have an immediate opportunity for a hybrid. full-time, ambitious, Senior Project Manager in our Pittsburgh, PA office. Our people are KEY’s most valuable resource, and in joining our team you will be encouraged to advance your career while working with skilled professionals located in our Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (headquarters), Raritan, New Jersey, and Portland, Maine, offices. Candidates must have a B.S. in engineering and at least 15 years of work experience in the civil and geotechnical engineering fields, with a focus on the design, permitting and construction of environmental remedies.


Responsibilities:

  • Successful leadership of engineering-related projects, including investigation, design, permitting and construction phases, as appropriate;

  • Front-line interface with clients as well as Local, State and Federal agencies;

  • Preparation of technical proposals for additional work on existing projects as well as new project opportunities;

  • Budgetary management, including review and approval of project invoices;

  • Mentoring of junior and mid-level engineers, and input to senior company management on employee performance;

  • Support to senior company management on the evaluation of potential engineering candidates for future company positions;

  • Participation in a limited number of regional/national conferences, including the submittal of abstracts and preparation of presentation materials;

  • Support of our business development professionals in preparation of sales brochures and qualification statements, and participation in technical sales presentations; and,

  • Contribution to our collective team atmosphere.


Assigned projects may include:

  • Remediation under CERCLA, RCRA, and state regulatory programs;

  • Closure of facilities containing coal combustion residuals;

  • Brownfield sites;

  • Shale gas recovery and processing facilities;

  • State Voluntary Action sites; and,

  • Industrial and commercial site development.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will also have the following qualifications:

  • Minimum B.S. degree in engineering (civil, environmental, or geotechnical engineering) with 15 or more years of engineering and project management experience;

  • Professional Engineer licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania,

  • Additional licensure (or willingness to obtain licensure) in Ohio, New Jersey, and West Virginia, at a minimum;

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and (perhaps most importantly) teamwork spirit with co-workers and clients;

  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills;

  • OSHA 40-hour training preferred, and;

  • Valid driver’s license.
