Key Capabilities

Key Environmental has performed numerous projects for a variety of engineering service areas. The following downloadable fact sheets include overviews of projects completed by service area. The files are in PDF format. Acrobat Reader is required to view these files. If you do not have Acrobat Reader, it is a freely downloadable application available at Adobe's web site www.Adobe.com.

Air Monitoring
KEY has designed and implemented programs for air monitoring including sampling and analysis of ambient air for volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHS), industrial hygiene monitoring of workers for VOCs and PAHS, discrete air sampling of air-phase carbon treatment systems for permit compliance monitoring, and long-term monitoring in support of soil and source area remediation projects. This fact sheet provides a summary of some site-specific, technology specific air monitoring projects KEY has conducted.

In Situ Remediation
In situ soil and groundwater remediation technologies often provide significant advantages over traditional techniques such as excavation and groundwater pump and treat, particularly when these ex situ techniques result in the generation of waste requiring disposal. This fact sheet discusses In Situ Remediation processes and project-specific applications.

Manufactured Gas Plants
Based on KEY's private sector and utility industry experience, KEY has a complete understanding of the environmental issues associated with former manufactured gas plant (MGP) sites. KEY has successfully developed a streamlined approach to remediation on more than 25 MGP sites as discussed in this fact sheet.

NAPL Recovery
Because of past industrial practices, non-aqueous phase liquids (NAPLs) are present at many remedial sites. The regulatory community recognizes both the physical limitations associated with removal of NAPL from the subsurface and the potential for long-term groundwater and soil vapor degradation posed by NAPL. As a result, NAPL recovery, to the extent practical, is often required as an interim remedial measure or as part of an integrated final remedy. This fact sheet provides an overview of a number of NAPL projects.

Pennsylvania Act 2
KEY's expertise and approach to Pennsylvania Act 2 properties have resulted in several of our clients sites being awarded a release from liability. KEY's knowledge of Act 2 and turnkey capabilities allows clients to manage environmental liabilities and risk, control timing and expenditure of project, and tailor remediation, standards to future use considerations of properties as described in this fact sheet.
